“Let it go, let it go.” This is what Elsa sings in the movie, Frozen. She is a lonely queen with secret magical ice powers. She hides herself from everyone because she is afraid of what others will think. But, she eventually finds happiness and is accepted by others. I feel a strong connection to Elsa because my life has been a lot like her’s.

Connection
Relates to the character, Elsa, from Frozen.
|
First, Elsa locks herself away from others and is alone. Similarly, when I moved to my new town, I was very lonely because I lost my friends. I was unhappy and thought I would never find friends like them again. The students at my new school were already friends and I nobody would talk to me at recess. As a result, I would sit alone and always just read a book instead. | Context 1: Story + Personal Experience

Also, Elsa hides her magic powers, because she didn’t think people would love her. Likewise, I was afraid that others would think badly about me if they found out about my favorite hobby, so I kept it a secret. I have a used chewing gum collection that is really important to me. Whenever I go to a new place, I find gum to add to my collection. This way, I can look back at it and remember all the good places I went to. My sister thinks I’m really strange, so I thought other kids would also think I am weird and not be my friend. So I also hid my most important thing, my gum collection. | Context 2: Story + Personal Experience
Another comparison between Elsa and the writer’s personal experience.

In the end, Elsa finds out that she can be herself and that there will always be people to support her.Like her, I found out that people would accept me too. One day, a classmate came to my house to do a project with me. I forgot to hide my gum collection. So she saw it. She didn’t think it was weird or gross. Actually, she thought it was really cool! Now we are best friends. Elsa and I were both alone and afraid to be who we really are. But we were both lucky to be accepted by other people. Life is really better when you “Let it go!” |
